We invent ideas that close the gap, then give them away.
OASiS is a laboratory for social innovation. We find long standing problems in the social sector, design simple and replicable solutions, prove them on the ground, and release the working models for anyone to adopt.
Every human being, a socially secured citizen.
Our mission is to organise systems and approaches that empower every citizen toward a socially equitable and economically sustainable life. The premise is simple: the people who genuinely wish good for society outnumber those who do not, many times over. Give them a platform, and they reshape the face of their country.
Identify
Find a gap in the social sector, and study why it has persisted.
Innovate
Design a solution that is simple, practical and easy to replicate.
Pilot
Run it ourselves until it becomes self sustaining.
Model
Turn the proven pilot into a documented model.
Give away
Release it to others to replicate at scale, for free.
Ten social innovations, tested and released.
Each model started as a problem on the ground. Most have won national or international awards, and several have been adopted by governments and replicated by others.
Social Innovation Lab
A shared platform that brings community, university, corporate and government together to brainstorm and test solutions for long pending problems, at both grassroots and university level.
CESS Social Security
Complete social security for the masses with no taxes, premiums or savings, drawn from a slice of each family's everyday spending. The first expenditure based model in the world.
The Museum School
Turns city museums into schools and their exhibits into teaching aids, with B.Ed. trainees as teachers, giving slum children world class education at almost no extra cost.
NIRAMAYA
A campaign begun in 2005 led to India's first national health insurance framework for the disabled, co-designed with the Chief Commissioner Disability, The National Trust and IRDA.
SWANS
An on field finishing school that grows teamwork, leadership and compassion in young people through social work, shaping them into responsible, capable citizens.
SCALE
A 360 degree system that scores social contribution and awards credits, mobilising youth, institutions and corporates toward volunteering and rewarding responsible action.
GRAMODAYA
Teaches rural development to rural children, 70 percent practical and 30 percent theory, building a local backbone of professionals to run welfare programmes and earn locally.
Life School
Builds critical thinking, awareness and empathy through everyday, experience based learning, the skills today's exam driven schooling tends to leave out.
Virtual Museum School
Turns a classroom into a 3D theatre and a lesson into a 3D film, giving every child a personal teacher and exhibits that pop off the screen, anywhere in the world.
GLIDE
Helps rural youth redesign sustainable local livelihoods together as climate change and automation erode farming and factory work, keeping communities and ecology intact.
The Museum School
In the same city, a rich child gets the best building, the best teaching aids and five trained teachers. A poor child gets bare rooms and one overstretched teacher. The Museum School erases that gap without new buildings or budgets, by using what a city already owns.
City museums become the school. Their exhibits become teaching aids no classroom can match. B.Ed. students teach as part of their training. The model has run in Bhopal since 2005 and won the UNESCO Wenhui Award.
Recognised from Bhopal to Bangkok.
