Parvarish never charges the children it serves. The whole school runs on people who choose to carry one part of it. Here is exactly what it costs, line by line.
Who has carried it so far
Because the Museum School serves underprivileged children, it has never taken a fee from them. The founder and his friends funded the first three years out of their own savings. The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust then supported the project for the next six years. iPartner UK supported one year, and also funded the Bangalore replication.
Now that the model has proved itself and won the trust of local citizens, it wants to become a citizens' project. If the people of Bhopal come together to own and support different parts of it, Parvarish can make sure every underprivileged child in the city grows into a genuinely independent and responsible adult.
The annual budget
For 150 children, per annum.
- Transport, 3 buses: ₹5,50,000
- Salaries, 13 teachers: ₹3,90,000
- Coordinator: ₹1,14,000
- Food for the children: ₹4,29,000
- Teaching aids and stationery: ₹36,000
- Annual function: ₹70,000
- Vocational training: ₹50,000
- Administration: ₹42,000
Total: ₹16,81,000 a year. That works out to ₹11,210 per child per year, or ₹935 a month. You can sponsor a whole budget head, or a single child.
