OASiS was founded in 2003 in Bhopal, as a platform for people who wanted to turn their skills toward socio-economic equality.
OASiS was founded in 2003 by Pradeep Ghosh, an Ashoka Fellow, after fifteen years in the corporate world across roughly a dozen countries in Asia and Europe.
Disillusioned by the economic disparity and poverty he saw in developing countries, he left that life and returned to his hometown in central India. Supported by his family, he set out to build a platform for like minded professionals who wanted to contribute their knowledge and professionalism toward turning disparity into socio-economic equality, and helping disadvantaged people recognise and use the skills they already had to grow out of poverty.
Working across a wide domain of social security with a national reach, OASiS began conceptualising, experimenting and developing models to address the gaps in India's social sector, and has since opened its doors to students, entrepreneurs and institutions who want to do the same.
With members drawn from social work, education, media, enterprise and the civil services, and past advisors including the senior economists Dr Bibek Debroy and Dr D P Sharma.
OASiS is a registered non government organisation in Bhopal, with 12AA and 80G income tax registrations. PAN: AABTA2481L.
